  NBP Case Study #1
Background

A Fortune 100 Client Company acquired a corporation of 20,000 active employees and 10,000 retirees. The Fortune 100 Company has 60,000 active employees and 20,000 retirees.

Services Provided

NBP was hired to conduct RFP services and fee negotiations for Active and Retiree Health & Welfare Administration. NBP was hired to project manage the Health & Welfare implementation outsourcing as the two companies were merging.

Challenges

The challenges were many as the acquired company internally provided Retiree Health & Welfare Administration, outsourced vendor management for its active associates and maintained other outsourced vendor relationships within Health & Welfare Benefit Plan Administration.

The acquiring Fortune 100 Company outsourced Retiree Health & Welfare Administration (terminated the inforce vendor) and internally provided active vendor management to its service providers.

Success Story

During the merger of the two companies, one vendor was selected for Retiree Benefit Plan Administration and one vendor was selected for active vendor management (with no call center services). The Retiree Benefit Plan Administration project encompassed over 25,000 retirees with over 500 benefit plans and over 50 service providers. The active vendor management component involved over 60 service providers and over 250 benefit plans.

NBP provided RFP, negotiation, project management and implementation services. The client was able to streamline processes and services. Overall costs were reduced by improving reporting, eligibility and premium disbursements, while maintaining core employee benefits services.
